Old houses are expensive to run

Turns out our water service pipe is made of lead. This is the end section which began leaking 2 days ago - hardly anything to see on the outside of the pipe, there is a distinct erosion on the inside here.
Getting at it involved removing tiling and panels, not to mention the plumber's excellent work.
So I thought I would keep this little reminder of an unwanted development that will no doubt lead to a rather larger piece of pipe replacement in the near future (there are another 25 metres of this pipe leading out to the street!).
