Remembering

We’re both still feeling pretty rotten but left our sick beds this morning to go to the Remembrance Service in town. It was very well attended and the sun shone. Our friend Glyn played the last post on his bugle and another friend provided a fly past right on time, G flying his Avro Anson and the other two planes were a Pitts Special and a Tiger Moth. They all looked spectacular against the beautiful blue sky. Unfortunately my photo doesn’t do them justice. There was a lot of standing about though and I felt pretty wobbly. One of the Army girls in the parade fainted right in front of us. My word she did look green but lots of people came to help and she was upstanding and able to march away at the end of the parade. Chris (Mr T) wore his Father's war medals with pride. His Father was killed in Italy during the Monte Cassino Campaign in 1944 when Chris was only two. He also put a little wooden cross in the Garden of Remembrance and the words he wrote on it were ‘Remembering a dear Father who so sadly I never met’.

Remembering today and always all those others who bravely fight and those who have lost their lives in valiant attempts to bring peace and safety to us all.
