Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2019 Saturday — Cayucos Pizza

We went for an afternoon drive — toward Morro Bay to fill the gas tank for tomorrow‘s drive back to SoCal and along our way we stopped to see some brand new condos that are being built (we weren’t impressed; they were too expensive, too small, and too many in one little plot of land).

When we got back to Cayucos, we drove to see the pier and the beach and then I suggested we share a slice of pizza. We hadn’t eaten anything since breakfast and it was several hours before dinner. It was delicious.

Late in the afternoon I saw this report from the BBC News, “German Chancellor Angela Merkel has warned against taking democracy for granted, at a ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of the Berlin Wall's fall. ‘No wall that keeps people out and restricts freedom is so high... that it cannot be broken down,’ she added. The wall had separated Soviet-controlled East Berlin and capitalist West Berlin during the Cold War.”

Such a marvelous event to have that wall torn down 30 years ago. In summer of 2004 my girlfriend Peggy and I got to view what remains of that wall. After seeing that and visiting Russia three times and seeing the devastation left by Communism, I have no respect for socialism.
