Doha

Doha, Qatar, is a city in the making. No expense is being spared. Imagine Dubai on speed.

We approached at 7.00 this morning to see the spectacular skyline in stunning light.

After breakfast we were driven along the Corniche to the new development (totally artificial) called The Pearl.

Then the Souq. It’s totally safe in there. The laws are so clear and firmly enforced that crime doesn’t happen. We saw the falcons (extra), the Arabian horses, and just enjoyed this reconstructed area. Well worth a visit.

We finished up at the Museum of Islamic Art, newly opened. The architect is the same one who built the Pyramid for the Louvre. It’s wonderful, certainly the high spot.

The collections of Calligraphy, Science in Art, and early Egyptian, Syrian and Turkish art are amazing.

The building is fabulous and my blip is taken from the West courtyard, looking through the arches at the city skyline.

Memorable...... but seriously thought provoking.
