The theme set by MerrillHope today is "profile".
Well, this was my first thought that came to mind, these are wooden profiles that we use for our work, often referred to as thresholds, but more specific really than a threshold, as the different profiles of these accommodate different types (or heights) of floors either side of the doorway/joining area.
