MonoMonday 303: Profile(s In Courage)

For MonoMonday, I’m going with the  theme of the book “Profiles In Courage”...suitable I think for the day (Veteran’s Day) and for this Civil War officer’s statue.

It was very odd to see a statue with a painted face.  Eerie, really, and I wonder: was the statue modeled on the man who’s grave it helped mark?  Does it look like real man?  Why was the face painted?  Was it to protect the sculpture?  Or to make it look more real, more like the man?  Does someone come an touch it up periodically?

Makes for interesting conjecture, if nothing else!  ;-)
