Remembrance.

When we drove down the M40 yesterday, we saw in the distance these soldiers striding along the skyline with poppies scattered at their feet. On the way back this morning we stopped to go and have a closer look.
It's an art installation by Dan Barton. A hundred and one soldiers to commemorate the end of WW1 and seventy five poppies to mark the number of years since WW2 ended.
It's near Stokenchurch at the Aston Rowant nature reserve. It will be there until November 24th and is worth going to see , not least because of the beautiful autumn coloured beech woods surrounding the roads there.

As we left Reigate it was sunny , at Stokenchurch it was dry but dull. Near home the roads were flooded and water is pouring off the fields. We have cancelled our plans for the afternoon as we soon won't be able to get out of the village.
