On Green Ice

At least today there was some sunshine, but the early arrival of winter has leapfrogged much of the normal autumnal decline and decay. Yellow/green algae trapped in the ice topped by still green leaves is testament to that. The prime subject in the image though is I suppose the snow covered log which looks pretty enough in the sun. It made me wonder how the wildlife has coped with the sudden change in weather.

Although I caught a sense of dappled light on the ice, I still find it difficult to get enough contrast to really show the cast shadows. Something to work on.
