Sunset Halong Bay

We travelled today by coach to Halong Bay visiting a ceramic factory and passing through areas of rice and other crops growing as well as some very industrial areas including a coal fired power plant. The weather was sunny and hot a change from the previous wet days. We gradually approached the distant limestone peaks that comprise Halong Bay where we boarded a small boat to take us to our vessel. Here we had a lovely meal as we cruised amongst the stunning scenery.

We were heading for Hang Sung Sot a very popular tourist site where one of the islands has an incredibly large internal cave that you slowly climb to. With its sculpted ceilings and stalagmites and stalactites it was very impressive. There were good view looking down to. We left this island and opted to go to the man made beach where a small group of is climbed up a much narrower pathway to the top arriving just as the sun was setting.

Another amazing day and wonderful food to follow.
