weavers cottage

next to the church in yesterdays blip stands this cottage at the village Cross...built in 1723 by the "cruck" method with the pairs of curved tree trunks supporting the roof still visible inside....sold to the National Trust in 1954 it is a museum of the village weaving industry with a working loom in the basement at the left....tartan cloth woven here is still in high demand

extra shows the lintel above the door....all the other 18thC weaving cottages/houses in the village are in private hands
