A Brand New Box, Made of the Finest Internets

There was a scheduled power outage at our house on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (though it ended up lasting about a half-hour longer than that where we live). There were plans to upgrade or replace something in the system, so we had a Sunday without light, or heat (in our electric-only house), or phone, or TV, or microwave, or stove, or Internet.

So we got up early and cranked up the heat, and made hot tea and put it in a thermos, and took some food and drinks out of the fridge and put them in a cooler so that we could access them all day without opening and closing the fridge doors and letting the cold out.

We were fortunate in that we had gotten hoagies from the Boy Scouts the morning before. This is a fund raiser they do: on home football game Saturdays, they sell Italian and turkey hoagies for $6 apiece. The hoagies are packaged with all items bagged separately so they can travel or be kept a while. So the Italian hoagie that was left over became Sunday's lunch!

And of course, during all of this, our latest Amazon order arrived in the middle of our powerless afternoon. It included one DVD movie, one music CD, some incense, and a large package of gum. There, now you know all of the marketing secrets about our household that you need to know!

But BEST of all, the order arrived in a very nice, spiffy, new BOX. Boxes from the Internet are the best!!! We opened up the box and took the stuff out, and of course, we immediately trapped a CAT in it. Dear Dexter adores his brand new box, which is made of the very finest Internets!
