Cancelled

That was the word next to our train departure time this morning. We were down at the station in very good time, not enough to organise getting the earlier train. So we had a wait.

The next train had started in Aberdeen so spaces were at a premium. Many displays of people helping each other and, down the carriage, someone giving up their seat to an elderly gentleman.

After York things were quieter and we arrived only 45 minutes behind schedule.

My first time back in London for 6+ years so keen to see what’s changed: other family members joined us later in the evening.

Thank you to all who have commented/ offered condolences about my “aunt”, in actual fact my half first cousin and my godmother. She was so looking forward to hearing about the London trip. So we will enjoy for her sake as well.

I had intended to blip the bard with “cancelled” but will keep that for claiming the refund. Instead this is of Alnmouth as we sped past.
