Royal Citadel Hue

We arrived from our overnight train journey to Hue feeling rather grubby but as it was early morning our room wasn’t yet ready. After breakfast we headed to the Royal Citadel an early 19th century development of 3 enclosures, a very impressive site. It is still in the process of being rebuilt as large parts were destroyed in the Vietnam War, especially the Forbidden Purple City, the extra shows a golden dragon on the Edge of the Forbidden Purple City area. So much to see and try to remember, the blip shows the entrance area into the Citadel.

In the evening we all ate in a restaurant overlooking the Perfume River where a birthday cake and a group present was brought out to me. So nice of my husband and our guide to arrange this belated celebration it wouldn’t have been the same on the train.
