60th wedding anniversay

It's my parent's 60th wedding anniversary today and of course we celebrated that the whole day long.

We started in the morning with coffee and cake. The (deputy) major of Stadskanaal also paid a visit. Yesterday a huge flower bouquet was delivered already on behalf of the major and city council members, and today he brought another present on top of that. It was framed copy of their original wedding certificate, signed by their parents and witnessess. It was a special moment to see all those names and signatures from 60 years ago.

Also very special was a personal letter from King Willem Alexander and Queen Máxima of The Netherlands, in which they congratulated them and wishing them all the best.
The King's Commissioner of the Province Groningen, mister Paas, also sent a personal letter with some very kind words.
Mom and dad were deeply impressed by all this. And so were we all actually.

In the afternoon we went to Grand Café 't Raadhuys for a reception where all the friends and family of mom and dad came by. It was a huge party from 15.00 untill 18.00 hours.
After that we (the 8 of us) had dinner together.

All and all it was a special day, for which we are all very gratefull.

We will be celebrating again on 21 and 22 december. That weekend we will go to Maastricht together, to a Christmas concert of the famous André Rieu and his Johan Strauss Orchestra.
That was the present we gave them today.
