Mark 1 MRI scanner

These days MRI scanning is a routinely used investigation world wide. What is less well known is that MRI scanning was discovered and developed by physicists and technicians at the University of Aberdeen in the kate 1970s. This is their Mark 1 scanner which is in public show at our local hospital. It was used in 1980 for the first ever diagnostic whole body scan and performed over 1000 scans until it was replaced in 1883.
