ANOTHER FIRE FIGHTER...

... of some proportion!

This DC-10 specially built for the US Fire Service has been here in the NSW summer now for a couple of years.

With the fires so far it has been welcomed along with other aircraft and helicopters used.

It is expensive to use - apparently some $6,000 per hour to operate, plus the retardant dropped, and there has been some controversy in the States as to the safety aspect of this approach.

What ever the case I bet a lot of home owners are already thankful for the use of this method of dumping around 12,000 gallons of retardant in a flight, in conjunction with the on ground fighters.

Thankfully it seems we could get more rain right through the areas with fires over the next few days so lets trust it comes.

Enjoy and have a look LARGE
