Cleaning up the muck

A fairly calm, mostly dry day today. A small group of locals including nearby residents, representatives of a new business setting up in town and a few from Keep Oban Beautiful went up to McCaig's Tower this afternoon to clean up the regular mess left behind by the latest yobs' drinking parties. It wouldn't be quite so bad if they simply dropped it, but they throw the cans and bottles over the fence and down the slope, making it hard to retrieve them. Homeowners far below moan that some of the bottles end up in their gardens! The cat in the arms of his owner is the famous Parsley, the best-known cat in Oban, correctly known as Parsley McCaig Campbell! His co-habitee, Misha, wouldn't get in the picture!

Not only that, but we also had to sweep up all the debris left behind after the recent firework display - it's never cleaned up! We have four displays every year - one at New Year, one on Guy Fawkes' night, one during the Winter Festival and one to mark the end of the Winter Festival! I wonder how much all that costs!
