a rock with holes...

...designed for good fortune

actually it was naturally made - formed by the forces - of nature itself
created when water - and other elements pound - through a stone - eventually creating a hole - at the weakest point on - the stone’s surface

these rare stones are - often referred to as ‘holey stones’ - ‘adder stones’ or ‘hagstones’ - depending on what region - you come from since typically - they’re found in northern germany - at the coasts of the - north and baltic seas - which is very interesting - since i neither live there - nor have visited - instead found this one - along the outer banks of north carolina

i recall walking those beaches - looking for colored glass pieces - when my eye landed - upon this special gem - and i remembered hearing an old - legend of how finding - a stone with holes in it - would bring the bearer good fortune - come to find out - in my reading - there is a lot to be said - about these adder stones - and just what people - have believed of them - down through the centuries

whether fact or fiction - to me, it is a thing of beauty - that the forces of nature - could cause holes to be pushed - through stone is pretty incredible - more incredible is that i actually - spotted it in the vast recesses - of sand along a shoreline - i guess you could say - it’s contributed to...

a

happy day.....
