A long view

This morning Cathleen , a colleague from the Colintraive & Glendaruel Development Trust , and two members from the local Forest Group wanted to look at a possible site in the Stronafian Forest, which is owned by the community, for a "dark skies" viewing platform and as it was a lovely , but very cold, day I went with them - a little outing, I thought,  before the day's  work.

It turned out to take somewhat  longer than she had promised, be a lot wetter underfoot than she had anticipated, and be a fair bit further than she had claimed.   But the view down to Loch Riddon, the burnt islands, Bute and then to Arran  from Cruach nam Mult was spectacular and when the platform is in place, the access will also be substantially easier.

In addition to the view I was struck by the very rich harvest of cones on most of the trees in the forestry plantation.   One of these is my extra photo.
