Windsock Goose Decoy Shock

MrQ cleaned out the garden shed and found three weird plastic waterfowl inside. They were given to us a sample when we had a retail plant centre. They comprise birds' heads on sticks with sort of windsocks in the shape of birds' bodies attached. In a breeze they could pass for the real thing at a distance. We didn't give them much thought and presumed they were garden ornaments or novelties for children.

I photographed the head of one this morning as its coating of ice crystals look a bit like the texture of plumage. I always research my shots and was shocked to discover that these are decoys. Hunters place 'flocks' of them which encourages real geese to fly down straight into their guns. :(
