BAIML Conference day 3

Part of the goal when we designed the conference program was to offer exceptional cpd from exceptional providers, well, job done.

Today we had the first trial of a new course from Plas y Brenin and Rescue 3 - Managing Moving Water for Trek Leaders - effectively à non boat based Swift Water day.
Signing up for it in August at the height of an Alpine heat wave had seemed a good idea, scraping ice off the minibus this morning reality loomed large. But....
It was simply superb. Under the inversion at Llangollen the temperature never got above 2°C but in our drysuits and LOTS of thermals it felt OK. Well to a point. We spent a solid four hours actually in (& occasionally briefly under) the water. We all learnt a huge amount, we all laughed till we hurt. When we finally started to be unable to tie even basic knots we called it, but back to PyB in time for tea and cakes.

Then the evening's main event, the AGM and Gala dinner. After four l-o-n-g years I finally got to step down as Chair of the Board of Directors, leaving in place à much stronger, much more professional and (yeay) happier organisation.
But.. I'm also very honoured to be the new President. It's an honourary role, but I'm committed to mentoring the new Directors, supporting the regional teams and representing the Association at events to raise our profile.
I must admit though - I am looking forward to not getting 50-60 emails a week!
