Silent Tribute

Icing sugar snow,
Dusts the war memorial.
Vivid cyclamen,
In silent tribute to one,
Among the many fond souls.

The war memorial was erected to remember those from the village, fallen in the first world war, then tributes were added for the second world war. Today someone had left a pot of cyclamen in memory of someone lost, presumably from a more recent conflict.

The bright colours of the cyclamen seemed so poignant somehow against the cold stone dusted with snow.

Go large for the lovely patterns on the cyclamen leaves dusted with snow.
