A sad loss

Here are the remains of a fine Walnut tree which has had to come down. It was one of the special things in the much loved woodland near the centre of Arnside.

It seems that Walnut trees in the U.K. are susceptible to fungal diseases. Last summer it looked very sad totally bereft of foliage.

Fortunate there is a younger Walnut which seems not to have been affected.
