Butter turkey

It's Thanksgiving! Oh boy. What a day. I thought this butter turkey was funny. I'd never seen one before. I cut off its face for my roll.

Today was something. Jill's mom had a cousin and her young daughter visit, which they do every year. Right before they were to show up, Jill's mom accidentally poured glaze into the bottom of the oven, causing it to smoke. The house now had a slight haze to it and smelled of honey and smoke. We had to turn off the oven, wait for it to cool, take out everything, scrub the oven trays, put them all back and cross our fingers.

Somehow things were fine, though her mom was panicking and getting mad. She has anger, control and other issues. It was incredibly awkward and stressful. The relatives showed up after the kerfuffle, and we ate. There was no turkey. Jill said that once her mom made a dry turkey, and her cousin's girl mentioned it, so she hasn't made it since. The main dish was ham.

At least the food wasn't bad.
