Another day, another abbey

Welcome to my favourite Cistercian abbey - Strata Florida in west Wales. I first came here 32 years ago, and fell in love. The setting - surrounded by the foothills of the Cambrian mountains - is stunning, and really looking its best in the winter sunshine today (although the contrasty light made photography tricky!). This is part of the great west door of the abbey church. Lots of Welsh medieval historical connections here - many royal burials, and reputedly also the last resting place of poet Dafydd ap Gwylym.
