The Cat and the Dragon

Sounds like an interesting pub....

Out to the Queen's Gallery at Holyroodhouse for a talk on Leonardo da Vinci, before a (slightly) quieter viewing of an exhibition of his drawings than would be afforded in usual opening hours. The main man, Andrew Graham-Dixon off the telly, got held up for various reasons; so the two-way conversation with Martin Clayton (Head of Prints and Drawings for the Royal Collection Trust, and Leonardo expert) was more one-way, but no less interesting.

The drawings themselves were fascinating, from study sketches of horses, to weapon design; samples for intended larger paintings to maps and anatomical dissection illustration. Certainly inspiring me to keep filling my own sketchbooks.
