Sedimentation

It was our U3A Geology Christmas meeting today, always characterised by a quiz and, the most important feature, cakes with a geological theme.

C made this one, which represents sedimentary rock being created by river erosion of the rock at higher level. This forms layers of particles deposited according to size, thus the biggest/heaviest settle at the bottom with successively smaller particles above.

It was delicious.
