Lala's Journal

Goodbye

The journey to Emery Down was a good one, despite early dire travel forecasts. We met up with Brother at Fleet and arrived at the church an hour early! Good thing the pub is next door!

It was a lovely service, with approximately 60 people in the congregation, not bad for a 91 year old! The community at Lyndhurst is second to none! We went back to The Crown for the best funeral tea I have ever seen, a proper afternoon tea, which was delicious. It was lovely to see old friends, and to chat with new, including a delightful gentleman who had served as CEO on HMS Hermes and when he heard where I worked insisted he would come visit next year if I would give him a tour!  Jean would have approved of it all, and it is clear she is going to be missed by many.

Peter and I remembered a photo this time and Mr L took it, now as an extra. We both laughed at ourselves dressed in smart clothes and looking so ‘posh’, so not our usual garb when we meet up, and promised ourselves a more natural one next time!
