"Welsh Gladwyn” or "Stinking Gladwin"

Spotted these enormous red berries in the garden this morning belonging to the iris foetidissima, also known as “Welsh Gladwyn” "Stinking Gladden".

This was bought on spec some years ago at an Open Gardens plant sale and we had no idea what it looked like.

It has taken several years though for it to produce such spectacular bright orange seedpods.
Now  I am delighted to discover it’s listed as one of the top ten British native plants.

(We voted this morning and were surprised at the big turn out. a sign of just how fed up people are with this government, though I suspect they will have been voted back in with a slightly increased majority.)
