Six out of eight of the remaining bodies from Monday's volcano tragedy were successfully retrieved from Whakaari/White Island today, by an intrepid bunch of Explosives specialty soldiers from the New Zealand Defence Force, with assistance from the Police & Navy. Those responsible deserve to be honoured in some way but I'll bet anything they'd say they're just doing their job. What an onerous job too. It's been an unforgettable week, full of anguish and despair, but the relief from today's venture was palpable. We can only hope and pray that the remaining two bodies are located and retrieved, plus much ongoing healing for the survivors. It's all needed.
