Blipmeet

Most of you won't be surprised to find Bonnie in my blip, rather than in Marpaul's blip, where she usually is. It was a Blipmeet. Me, Marpaul and Bonnie.

We met in Bitts Park in Carlisle, not far from the castle. And what should be there but one of the final two Benchmarks, which of course you all remember from the summer. The last one I blipped was in September.

This one is called Towards the Sea and comprises four pieces of local red sandstone describing a sequence of water-eroded stone running parallel with the flow of the river. There is apparently a mathematical element to the structure, but we could not understand this. The sculptor was Hideo Furuta, a Japanese artist, based in Galloway, Scotland, and who made huge granite sculptures for outdoor locations throughout the country. Well worth looking him up if you are interested. He died a few years ago.

So here is Benchmark number nine (one more to go), the River Eden and Bonnie, on a sunny but cold afternoon in Bitts Park, Carlisle.

The reason for the meeting was for Blipbear to be transferred to me so he can come with me to New Zealand. Marpaul has enjoyed having Blipbear and was a little reluctant to hand him over. Her last Blipbear blip is here.
