Full moon, Union canal

Of course, not quite a full moon: it is not safe to be too close to the canal when the moon is completely full. Even as I took this photograph the canal was seething and boiling as huge dimly-seen shapes moved beneath the water. It is fortunate, I think, that they were not fully-visible: human eyes and human minds were not intended to behold such things unveiled. The inhabitants of the rotting tenements near the canal may once have been human, I suppose, but now are something quite other.
