The Norfolk Lights Express

This is the Norfolk Lights Express just before it was due to leave from Sheringham station on its way to Holt and back. The steam train passes through various illuminated festive scenes in woodland cuttings which we saw (unlit) from the dining train on Sunday. This is it's first year and it's been very popular with extra trains being put on.

Photographers have been a bit annoyed however as we've not been allowed on the platforms to take photos, a bit short sighted really as they could have sold us each a pass for a few quid! (This is taken by peering over the fence from the car park). I'd have loved to take a photo of its light trails as it passes through an illuminated Weybourne station - I've seen a photo of that which I assume was by a professional photographer with special permission. I also tried to park in a muddy 'lay-by' on the coast road by the railway bridge which crosses it, but it was already full.

They had a singer entertaining everyone on the platform with xmas songs and the kids loved the countdown to the lights coming on. I suspect a new xmas tradition has been born.
