Polly's Pictures

Who needs plastic?

This was bought the first Christmas after my husband was born, so is pre Second World War.  Known in the family as 'The Japanese Roundabout'.  It is clockwork and made of celluloid.  Very fragile, but has to be wound up a few times for the young members of the family.  The bells don't tinkle quite as much as much as they did.  There are the remains of an identical one in the box and I think parts have been amalgamated to make one working example.  I have only ever known of one working.  No2 son always checks that it is part of my decorations.
