Time travel

Been doing a bit research in the past few days involving looking through some books of old photographs of Orkney .

We are very lucky to have a fabulous photographic archive at the Orkney Library. Which holds some amazing images of days gone by, some in the recent past and others of an Orkney long ago. It is interesting to see some images where people and places look very, very different today and others which the only way to place them in a time are from the fashions. One things for sure there were a lot more beards in the past.

The caption on this pic (credited to F.Cuthberson) reads 'Two tourists, James Henderson and Tom Wolfe are 'put off the island' after a visit in 1909'.

I have no idea what they did to deserve such treatment... but looking at their expressions I have a sneaky suspicion that this shot may have been set up, I wonder what it was for?
