Christmas Message

I wrote my Christmas cards this evening with little messages to my friends and family wishing good health, happiness and flying adventures in 2020!

So looking forward to catching up with friends and family over the Christmas holidays and some sleep - feel totally zapped. The lack of energy is not helped by a recent inability to get to sleep despite being tired. Averaging 4.5 hour a night this week!

When it’s dark and there seems nothing but the drudge of work I try to keep in touch with friends even if it’s just via text or messenger at lunchtime or in the evening. It gives me hope there is so much more to think about.

The urge to hibernate seems to come most in the dark winter months and this evening I watched a Christmas message on Instagram from Presiding Bishop Michael Curry who spoke about darkness of this time of year. If you think he looks familiar he gave the sermon at Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding.

He spoke of how it is no coincidence that Christmas follows the Winter Solstice. “The light shines in the darkness and the darkness cannot overcome it. We must love one another at a time when there is much darkness in the world.”

Amen to that.
