Balancing on a Board

Suddenly realized, after spending ages photographing the almond trees, that because Mike has his own journal now, I've not blipped him and his floor lately, so just got one in before he finished.

It's been a marathon:
- clearing the room of the huge amount of stuff we had in there, and making shelters for it all outside (whatever hadn't been stuffed in the caravan or in this room)
- putting in drains, electrical channels, and doorways
- hacking out the higher parts
- filling in the lower parts with rocks gathered from the electric and water channel we had dug (with help from Richard, Phil, Joel and George)
- layer of level cement over all that
- put down damp proof course
- sawing lengths of wood to make a grid pattern, in order to avoid cracks and give levels
- fill it up with hand mixed cement and sand
- beat it down and level off
- sprinkle cement powder and trowel it off (what he's doing here)
- sprinkle yellow powder paint and trowel again, without walking on it or dragging toes in it
And, done, phew!
- well, tomorrow, got to wet it and cover for it to cure for a couple of days

Gratefuls:
- that the floor is done before the weekend, and we can have a break now
- all the asparagus that's sprung up after the rain, I picked loads
- the utter beauty of parts of our Land, now that it's rained
