Sgwarnog: In the Field

First

The first ever meeting between Bradford City and Salford City proved a frustrating afternoon for the home team. 12yo, 15yo and I were in the stands although illness in the squad meant we didn't get to see Nephew #3 in action today.

The Bantams dominated possession and had twenty six attempts on goal during the match, but only one of those converted. Salford had occasionally threatened on the break, and equalised in closing stages of the game.

Kudos to John Dewhirst, author of the heritage column in the City programme. With no previous matches between these two teams to work on he still produced a content filled page reflecting on late nineteenth century appearances at Valley Parade by Salford FC rugby league team and Salford Harriers athletics club.
