ZIH-MID

I love an airport that allows for views of its inner workings and its runways like this one, but that is about the only thing we like about the Mexico City airport. Two different delays on our trip between Zihuatanejo and Mérida, made what should have been a relatively short trip into a day-long nightmare. The worst part was the lack of information available. Our flight from Mexico City to Mérida simply disappeared from the departure board 30 minutes before it was to take off and we still hadn’t been assigned a gate. After accosting a few Interjet employees at different flights, we found it was departing from a gate far removed from where we had been told to wait. When we arrived breathless and worried we had missed the final call, we discovered it was delayed by almost an hour. Air travel, especially through Mexico City, is not for the faint of heart.
