Waxwing

We are sorting out books at the moment as we have more shelf space now that we don’t have a piano. We spent the morning on this task and went out for a walk up the Water of Leith after lunch. There’s a relatively new mural in Roseburn Park that I thought would be the blip but we spotted a tree full of birds that we couldn’t really be sure what they were, so hung around to see if they would fly nearer. It turns out the tree was full of Waxwings; I counted 190 on a photo I took of the crown of the tree. The blip is a silhouette of one with its distinctive crest when it came a little lower. Sadly the light wasn’t good enough for a good close up and I didn’t have a telephoto lens.
