School Garden

This is a new project for us. We have employed a horticulturalist, Alinepha Banda to work with women's groups and Schools to teach them about growing plants, mainly food.

Hi John and Mary,
Here are photos for Kauwa primary school doing horticulture.
This is kauwa primary school, it has 4 blocks and 14 teachers, the have 2 shifts, morning and afternoon.Today Alinipha was working with Std 7 B and D. Alinipha was introduced to the class by Mr Phiri, Mrs Mataya and Mrs Kumwenda the teachers whose subjects include Agriculture as part of the curriculum. Alinipha was working with 126 pupils doing Horticulture and she was teaching them how to till land and making beds.She has also taught them 2 types of beds and that is raised and sunken,pupils have started making some beds.
Tomorrow they will start bringing farmyard manure to put them on the beds and on Monday and all this will be guided by Alinipha, they will also do nursery on Monday. Alinipha will be working with 5 other classes from Std 4 to Std 8. All teachers are very happy with this programme.
