It’s Christmas, Jess, but not as we know it

Of course Jess has no idea about Christmas, to her it’s just another day. We had a lovely walk this morning and somehow the world did seem a little brighter (frost, blue sky and sunshine!) and the birds were singing more than usual (I heard my first dipper in the burn). Of course it was quieter, too, still tractors going up and down the road, but no trucks or buses and less cars than usual.

We headed into Dumfries where kind folks at the River of Life Church were putting on a free lunch for anyone who might be alone or in need of food at Christmas. There were about 40 people there and the food looked lovely and the portions huge :-) Local businesses had donated it all plus extra food and toiletries for people to take away. It’s so nice to see some kindness and goodwill in our community ; really what Christmas is all about.

Tonight D and I had our own meal and spoke to my parents, brother and sister and nieces and nephews . It’s amazing to be able to see them all together at dinner at my sisters house in Brighton. Past 5pm and they were on the cheese course :-)
