He always relents, but sometimes when the boy gets to the chair first at story-time he insists there is insufficient space, but then complains if I sit on the edge of the bed or on the floor in front of the chair. It's easier if he sits on my knee and I sit on the chair as then he seems more susceptible to being read things in a calm, deep voice and starts yawning and rubbing his eyes well before the end of the second story, sometimes even insisting on being transferred to his bed before the point at which it would be insisted upon.
