Sally Mair - Loving life

Birthday Girl

Whatever happened to pass the parcel?
Apparently this is the way you want to spend your sixth birthday, a climbing party at the EICA at Ratho. Eilidh and her friends had a wonderful time while we adults watched in awe. It was intriguing watching their problem solving skills coming to the fore as they worked out how to deal with overhangs and getting across round surfaces. Abseiling down again from the top posed no qualms either. She got up there in 71 seconds btw!
After spending the early afternoon at the party, it was back home again and I spent the afternoon recovering. It's the first length of time I've spent out of the house since we went to the Botanics Lights on the 22nd. I've still not got much stamina so took a while to recover.
We had a quiet evening in and watched an amusing programme looking back at how we Scots entertained ourselves over the last 50 years or so. I'm not convinced they had the '70's quite right, but I will admit to cooking ham wrapped around banana in a cheese sauce, very tasty it was too- honest - but I don't agree with the presenter' s comment that bananas were exotic at that time.
The real birthday is tomorrow, so more excitement in store as our excited 5 year old becomes 6.
Managed to do 10,600 steps today, first worthwhile total for a week.
