The dropped stitch

Mince pies

We arrived early this morning off the Aberdeen boat to a grey, wet and windy Shetland. The car doors must be clung on to lest the wind whips them out of your hand and breaks the hinges.

We are asked anxiously about the ferry crossing but it was actually fine. Either I slept through it, or the wind had not yet whipped the waves up to their worst.

Yesterday it felt as if 25th was long gone but today we stepped back into Christmas. The grand children were excited to show all their presents, there were new board games to play and dolls to dress. J's freshly made mince pies provided a perfect accompaniment.
