The Morecambe Bay Bore

I mentioned the Morecambe Bay Bore a few days ago and received a query as to what it was from an American blipper.  I described it in words to her but thought I would try to show it coming in.  Taken from Spring Bank Lane above Grange over Sands, this shows the leading edge of the bore surging along the River Kent channel.  Within a few moments all the visible sands banks are submerged by this tidal wave which occurs with each incoming tide to a greater or lesser extent.  If anything I think the sound is more noticeable than the sight as it makes a roaring sound as it passes by a little like that of traffic on a nearby motorway.  One thing for certain is that if you were on the sands you would not be able to outrun it.
