Pictorial blethers

Last sunrise of the year

There was thick fog on the Firth when I woke, rather late, this morning, though the sun was doing its best to break through. Photos on Instagram and a Facebook comment from a friend revealed that the sun was splitting the sky a few miles to the south, so that's where we went for a walk in the late morning, back to where we took the boys yesterday.

And that was that, really. As it grew dark outside we did a bit of cleaning (the sideboard badly needed some polish) and I tidied away bank statements and other papers dating back to July (I'm not very good at keeping up with paperwork). Because our friends with whom we usually celebrate Hogmanay are both ill, we spent the evening like any other, except that we ate some Christmas pudding left over from yesterday and opened a bottle of lovely pudding wine to accompany it. We had a dram at the bells and wondered at the crass music playing under the astonishing Edinburgh fireworks. We had a brief struggle to try to find out why our Bose sound system is such a problem when it comes to Netflix, and gave up because of the aforementioned dram.

The best thing so far about 2020 is that I've now acquired 100 extra photos to play with, so I'm adding one of the sunny bay at Toward Sailing Club, taken looking towards the spot where the boys were playing in the photo from yesterday.

Happy 2020...
