Sao Pedro de Rates

We went for a ride not planning to discover one of the oldest churches in Portugal. Pre-Roman. The doors were open, in this small town church. And we were the only attendees.
It was 'reconstructed' in the eighth and seventh century. Built on top of an earlier incarnation.
The main photo is actually a side door and has some great sculpture and lettering around it, however weathered.
