Stealth Predator

Always on the look out for unique things in nature, I was looking closely at an old fence post. That's when I saw this little bit of lichen. Imagine my surprise when it moved. Of course, I had to google it and find out what it was. It wasn't lichen after all, but a tiny Debris Carrying Lacewing Larva. I have never seen such a thing! Seems these little creatures carry lichens and other bits of plant debris on their backs. They also may carry bodies of past prey, such as aphids. This provides excellent camouflage to protect them from their predators. Pretty interesting!  I will never cease to be amazed at nature!
