Clark Tales

Old Stirling Bridge

Today we walked. Starting the year as we meant to go on, in more than one way.

On the way home from the walk we saw a lady who looked like she was struggling with her shopping trolley. We asked if we could lend a hand. She was overjoyed and relieved. We met Mimi;  97 years young and a delight. She lived not far from where we met her. We helped her home. She insisted we come in. Put her kettle on and she sent us home with chocolates that she insisted we have. Bless her. I'm so glad we could help her out.

It's nice to be nice!

We ended today seeing Little Women. We went last night but the cinema was SOLD OUT, today was a success. What a truly wonderful film. Greta Gerwig is a genius who has redelivered this beautiful story for another generation. One of the best filmmakers of her time! I wondered if Mimi has been to the cinema in a while and how this story might feel for her. Given her age she was born in 1923 in a world which would not have looked too different from the time of Meg, Jo, Amy and Beth March!
